Life Lately

It has been far too long since my last blog post, years, actually. So incredibly excited to be back writing and sharing with you all. For this new blog, it will take a slightly different direction. I want to share life updates, personal experiences, perspectives, thoughts and of course, all things mom life from parenting to our favorite products and so much more! You can expect all this, and more, different from what I had and how I ran my last/old blog years ago, but extremely excited about it. I have a vision of this being a safe space for me (and everyone who is here) and for it to be a journal like experience, since I LOVE to write and I loved writing journals back when I was in high school. Yeah, I want to do more things I love and that bring me joy, so, here I am!

HI AND HELLO! If you are new here or haven’t ever read any of my old blogs from years ago, WELCOME! Even if you are NOT new here! HEY! For those who don’t know, I am Monica Chong. Wife and mommy to 6. I am a stay at home mom for over 14 years now and I homeschool 4 of my kids right now. I live on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Glad you are here.

Life lately, whew, where to begin. 2025 just started so how has there been just SO much going on and so much that has happened already. A bit rocky, blessed, a bit laid back, a bit busy all at the same time!

A little rewind…I looked and got into digital marketing about a year ago, now. Diving head first into it not knowing much made me feel extremely excited and nervous all at the same time. Fast forward to today, I have taken a huge step back from it all. Trying to get back into the groove of things since the new year started and here we are in the now 4th month and I have not gotten back into prioritizing my business and pouring into it like I had planned and hoped for. BUT, here I am, keeping a promise to myself to keep going, be consistent and not give up even when things don’t go as planned, and part of that involved getting back to blogging!

In January, we celebrated our baby Mavon’s second birthday. He is our last, our rascal, our baby. Then, we celebrated our one and only daughter’s birthday in mid March. She turned fourteen!

We have, so far this year, also been taking the time to spend quality mom and dad time. I think we both understand now the magnitude of importance it holds, even with our busy lives at home with our kids, especially considering that. We took a little day trip without our kids for the first time EVER in February to see family on the Big Island (Hawaii island) for a celebration of life. Then we took a huge trip (for us) and flew to the mainland to Vegas for a few days in ending March WITHOUT OUR KIDS, again!. To say I enjoyed it is an understatement. However, it was so bizarre and new to the both of us, feelings of all sorts were discussed and felt between us.

Between homeschool life, adjusting to things that work for us now and things that no longer serves us, mom daily duties, husband working long hours and 6 days a week, sports between our 3 kids, it is all a lot. I try to keep reminding myself whenever I may forget, to hold on tight to these days as hectic and chaotic as it may all seem and be, it will fly by fast. I am not new to how fast it all goes by with my oldest turning nineteen on me this year.

So, that’s pretty much life lately in a nutshell. It has been hard, and good and crazy busy and beautiful. Through it all, ultimately, I am incredibly grateful because WE ARE BLESSED! GOD IS GOOD!

See you in the next post!

All the love

Monica ❤
